  • Sarita is primarily interested in exploring freedom's frontiers, creatively and professionally.
  • Her work involves intersectional engagement with women's and girls'​ rights ; gender justice; sexualities and human rights; HIV/AIDS; persistent and structural inequalities; exclusion; voice, engagement and participation; accountability; and civil society capacity strengthening.
  • Clients include UN agencies, international development cooperation organizations, local and international NGOs; and research, academic, activist and media entities.
  • Sarita is the Director of Under the Rainbow, a social justice organisation that advances women and girls' rights, operating locally, regionally and globally, with a particular interest in sexual and gender-based violence.
  • Sarita is also a sculptor and writer. Her essay, Border Crossings is published in the Anthology of African creative non-fiction, Safe House. Another essay, African Feminist Uprisings: Getting our Knickers in Knots is published in Feminist Africa and she had a visual essay, engaging with sculpture and disability, published in the Agenda feminist journal.

Greatest achievement: 

Living a full creative and professional life despite sustaining a permanently disabling injury in 2003.

Facilitating strategic, reflective and social change processes globally; Facilitating creative expression for healing; girls and women's rights: technical assistance; human rights, sexualities and diversity; Black feminist creativity, knowledge and cultural production. Supporting civil society organizations to be more effective at what they do. Exploring the frontiers of freedom.
