Tuesday, July 24, 2018
Johannesburg, South Africa
Greetings to all Canon Collins alumni,

Our winter edition of the Alumni Network Newsletter is brimming with news. In particular, look out for:
  • A report on the Research and Dissertation Writing workshop run by Dr Justice Mavedzenge and  Phila Msimang to share insights and learnings gained from their own successful academic journeys.
  • News of the 2018 Annual Alumni Dinner -  a festive occasion, with an inspirational keynote address delivered by human rights activist, Dewa Mavhinga.
  • This year’s Alumni Change Maker, Tinashe Mundawarara, whose efforts to support vulnerable children at an orphanage in Harare, earned him the 2018 prize of R30,000 to further this important work.
  • News of the Scholarship Information Event held in Maseru, Lesotho, and the launch of a rich resource booklet - Scholarships for Basotho, available online as well.
  • Congratulations to alumnus Dr Justice Mavedzenge, who was recently appointed as a trustee of the Canon Collins board.
  • Bitter-sweet news on the passing of fellow alumnus, Dr Siambabala Bernard Manyena, in whose honour a fund has been established to enable children in rural Binga (Dr Manyena’s home village) to go to school. Contact Isaac Mumpande to make a contribution: isaacmumpande@gmail.com
  •  A profile piece on alumna Fanny Malikebu who is doing inspirational work to alleviate poverty in rural Malawi.

We love to hear from you! Please get in touch with your updates, or any recent publications, with the Alumni Network.

Warm regards
